What are the advantages and disadvantages of MDF?

Advantage:

MDF is thin, the cutting surface will be well sealed and the glue won't easy to be open. It is easy to press into various shapes, also it is easy to make shapes. Usually, there are used to make door panels or back panels. .


Disadvantages:

Bearing capacity: small bearing capacity, easy to damage to wooden structure and deformed;

Nail holding power: poor toughness of the board, resulting in poor nail holding power, especially multiple nail holding power;

Environmental protection: ordinary MDF needs a lot of glue to bond, and the environmental protection is poor;

Moisture resistance: the moisture resistance is poor. Soaking a piece of MDF in water for 24 hours, it is obvious that the four sides of the MDF are deformed;

Sound insulation: sound absorption and sound insulation are poor.
